On March 25, 2003, the Cabinet resolved to authorize the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) to manage and operate Chiang Khong port, which was officially put into service on December 1, 2003  It  appointed to facilitate and promote import – export border trade between 4 countries consist of China, Myanmar, Laos and Thai.)
